Humility

by Dean Rerekura

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

1 Peter 5:6

There is a Chinese proverb that says “Be like the bamboo, the higher you grow, the deeper you bow.”

Peter saw first hand the wonder and the beauty of this.
He saw the One who was first, put himself last.
He witnessed the One who humbled himself, by taking on flesh and being delivered over he death, even death on a cross.
He marveled at the One who took a towel and washed His disciples feet.

Therefore God exalted Him (Jesus) to the highest place, and gave him the name above all names. That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, and tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Jesus bowed to serve us.
How can I not bow to serve Him?

How can I serve you?

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
