For His Name’s Sake

by Dean Rerekura

Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.

Daniel 9:19

It’s a cry of desperation from a life experiencing the pit of despair.
It’s a cry that we have either screamed in our past, or will plea for sometime in our future. It could well be your cry today.
That God would listen to your requests.
That God would forgive your mistakes.
That God would hear your burden.
And that God would act on your behalf.

And the promise of God is that he DOES listen, he WILL forgive, he CAN hear, and he HAS acted.
And it is what God HAS DONE, that gives me confidence of what he WILL DO.
Maybe not in the ways we imagine, but it will be for His sake – and that’s good. Because for God’s sake – is ultimately the best thing.
It might not be in our timing, but that’s ok. Because if it’s in God’s timing, well, his timing is perfect.

So today, no matter what your circumstances are, keep asking God to be God in your life and in your world – for the sake of your city, for the sake of your people, for the sake of yourself – for HIS OWN names sake.
