Unfathomable Grace and Power

by Dean Rerekura

I became a Christian when I was 15 years old. Since then, life has not always been easy. But I have been continually surprised, even amazed, at how faithful God has been.
Like the writer of these words in Psalm 71, I can’t always explain how God has shown himself to be gracious and powerful in my life, and not just my life, but in the lives of many others as well.

But it’s when I look back and see the good things he has done. How he has provided for my needs, how he has protected me in circumstances, how he has given me calmness in the face of trouble, how he has given me joy in the face of despair, how he has given me compassion in the face of life’s hurts, and how he has given assurance in the face of doubts.
I am so grateful.

No, I can’t always explain how these things have come to pass, I just know that they have.
And not just me, but there would be many of you who also join with me at being amazed by His grace and surprised by His mercy.

That’s why today I want to tell you that the God who reveals himself through the Bible, and who is a Good Father, suffering Saviour, powerful Protector, generous Provider, sovereign Lord and guiding Holy Spirit, is still Living and Active today to transform your life and His world.

So today, wherever you go, if you can, then tell of his deeds, speak of his saving acts, and in all the things we don’t know, there is this that we do know, we are wonderfully, eternally, assuredly saved from sin because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Psalms 71:15

My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long— though I know not how to relate them all.
