Minority

by Dean Rerekura

This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’

Zechariah 13:9

Have you felt like the numbers are stacked against you?
Have you been in a position where you are a lone voice?
Have you experienced the reality of going against the crowd?

You’ve done what is right, and that has left you isolated.
You have stayed and stood when others ran away.
Or, you walked away from corruption, when others stayed and reveled in it.

To be in the minority can be hard, lonely, even dangerous.

But Jesus stands with those who stand alone.
And God is a refuge for those who are most vulnerable.

It’s an amazing thing!
We are refined most when God’s call is hardest to live out.
We hear God more clearly when we need him to speak the most.
We feel his presence the most when we are most depended on him.

For if God is with me, who can be against me?
Even if the world be against me, I will not fear, for The Lord is with me.

Where else would you rather be, than with Jesus?

This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’
