I like receiving gifts. I also like to give gifts. There is something uplifting about giving someone a gift and seeing their face lighten up with joy, their eyes wide open, their mouth with the ‘WOW’ expression. You know, when they take away the wrapping paper that reveals something they really love.
That’s the way the writer of the above part of the Bible thinks when he thanks God for a group of people who have received the Bible (God’s Word) for what it is. An unbelievable, generous, loving and gracious gift. Not just the words of authors, speakers, prophets, kings, poets, leaders and historians. But the very Words of God.
And these words – not just being read, but being lived out. Amazing!!!!!
I encourage you to check out this video of what getting our hands of a bible should be like:
Today, wherever you go, believe and live out God’s Words found in the Bible
1 Thessalonians 2:13
And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.
