But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
Psalms 73.28
This is wonderful encouragement to us all at all times, especially today.
Firstly, God has brought us near.
In a world where we are hearing about the importance of keeping our distance – God is always with us.
Though we once were far away because of our rebellion and rejection of God, God did not want us to stay separated.
So he sent His Son, Jesus Christ to us, to make a way that we can come to the Father through Him.
Secondly, God is our refuge.
In a world we’re we are constantly mindful of safe places to be, in a relationship with God is for us, the safest place to be.
And Jesus came to us as that safe place. “Come to me all you who are weary and I will give you rest”, he says.
And thirdly, we will tell of God’s great deeds.
In a world where is there not that much good news, there is much to share – about the best news.
Jesus has come that we might have life. Jesus has come so that we can be saved. Jesus has come to take away our guilt and shame. Jesus has come to set the slave free. Jesus has come to make love known. Jesus has come to take our place. Jesus has come to give us now the promise of the not yet – assurance of heaven and the glorious gift of eternal life.
So today wherever you go – remember that God is near, that God is refuge, and tell the world of what God has done. And God has done amazing things.
