Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
2 Thessalonians 3:16
We all need peace. And we all are crying out for it:
Peace instead of conflict. So that wars would end between nations, and between people, and within ourselves.
Peace in the context of confusion. When our minds doubt our belief. When public option questions our evidence. When those closest to us dismiss our faith.
Peace when confronted with condemnation. When the words of others unfairly accuse us. When the actions of others unfairly malign us. When the shear amount of the others unfairly outnumber us.
Peace in the presence of tragedy. When the grief seems too much to bare. When the load seems too heavy to carry. When the journey seems too far to travel.
Peace in the fear of abuse. Peace in the storm of oppression. Peace in the darkness of addiction.
We are all looking peace. And the wonderful promise of this verse is that the God of peace gives us peace. In other words, he gives us himself. Which is exactly what he has done in giving us His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
And HE makes good on every promise of God – including this one.
“Peace on earth and good will to all.”
May the Lord of peace – give you peace – in every way you need it today.
